BER Assessors Association Welcomes DEAP Software Update

The BER Assessors Association is pleased to welcome the recent updates to the Dwelling Energy Assessment Procedure (DEAP) software, which were implemented by SEAI in September 2024. DEAP is an essential tool used by BER assessors to calculate and publish Building Energy Rating (BER) certificates, helping to assess energy performance across homes in Ireland.

Our members played an active role in providing valuable feedback on the software’s usability, and we are delighted that SEAI has incorporated many of these insights into the new updates. These improvements not only make assessments more precise but also streamline the process for assessors working with various home types.

Key updates include:

  • The addition of a new age band (L) for homes built from 2014 onwards.
  • Refinements in compliance checks, ensuring more accurate energy performance calculations for Part L of the Irish Building Regulations.
  • Updates to fabric defaults and clarification on when new or existing BER assessments apply.

These changes ensure that the DEAP software continues to support the accuracy and efficiency of BER assessments, ultimately contributing to Ireland’s national energy efficiency goals. Our association looks forward to continuing collaboration with SEAI on future improvements that benefit both assessors and homeowners.
