The BER Assessors Association is pleased to welcome the significant funding increases and support for home energy upgrades announced in Budget 2025, which will greatly benefit homeowners and the energy sector. The allocation of €469 million for retrofitting and solar PV, alongside a VAT reduction to 9% on heat pumps, is a critical step toward making Irish homes more energy-efficient, comfortable, and affordable to heat.
Our association is proud of the crucial role BER assessors play in these upgrades, contributing our expertise in BER assessments and technical insights throughout key stages of the energy upgrade journey, including:
Heat Pump Grants: BER assessors conduct technical assessments to ensure homes are suitable for heat pump installations. These assessments help homeowners qualify for SEAI grants by verifying energy efficiency standards and providing expert guidance on necessary upgrades.
Home Energy Assessments via One Stop Shops: As part of SEAI’s One Stop Shop service, BER assessors evaluate homes comprehensively, ensuring homeowners receive guidance on the most effective measures for improving energy performance, such as insulation, heating system, solar PV, and ventilation upgrades.
Post-Installation BERs for Insulation, heating system and Solar PV: Following the installation of retrofits like insulation and solar PV systems, BER assessors carry out post-installation BERs to ensure the upgrades meet the SEAI technical standards.
With our experience and technical expertise, BER assessors play a vital role in helping homeowners make informed decisions on their energy upgrade paths, ensuring projects meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and compliance.
